Security and scam prevention

Online services

Only sign in to Veritas’ online service through the veritas.fi website. First, enter the address veritas.fi in the address bar of your browser. You can also save this address in your browser bookmarks to make it easy to access Veritas’ website in the future.

Do not go to the first online service that comes up in your search results, as the list may also include phishing sites. It is also important not to trust links sent by email or text message.

The address when logging in to Veritas’ online service always starts with service.veritas.fi or https://service.veritas.fi. Please note that after the service.veritas.fi beginning, the rest of the address changes according to the specific page to which the user navigates.

Ensure that the first part of the address is correct, since scams often try to make this part of the address look as authentic as possible. The National Cyber Security Centre has warned of messages sent in the name of different organisations, where the name of the organisation differs only slightly from the original. For example, the lower case I (“i”) in the veritas.fi address might be substituted with a lower case L (“l”).

The connection between Veritas’ online service and your device is always encrypted. You can check the encryption function via the lock icon on the left side of the browser address bar or from the add-on menu on your mobile device.

Note! Commonly used web browsers will warn you if the connection is not encrypted or if the site has an invalid encryption certificate. In such situations, never log in to the given site or enter your information.

Secure payment to Veritas’ account

Here’s how you can ensure secure payment to Veritas’ account:

  • When paying an invoice, use the official name of Veritas, ’Pensionsförsäkringsaktiebolaget Veritas’.
  • If you use an existing payment template or saved information in your online bank, change the payee name to ’Pensionsförsäkringsaktiebolaget Veritas’.
  • If your online bank tells you that the name does not match the account number, check the Veritas bank account number from the invoice.

EU’s Instant Payment Regulation changes payment practices

The Instant Payment Regulation (IPR) of the European Union will enter into force on 9 October and bring changes to the payment of invoices. In future, money will be transferred from one account to another in less than 10 seconds, also during weekends and holidays.

When the IPR takes effect, banks will also start verifying at payment that the name and account number of the payee correspond to one another. The objective is to prevent mistakes and frauds that are intended to trick customers into sending money to the wrong account.

When you are paying invoices in the online bank, you will receive a notification stating whether the payee information fully or partly corresponds to the information you have given. The bank will also let you know if the information does not match. Your bank will compare the entered name of the invoice payee to the company’s official name in accordance with the Trade Register.

As a payer, you can choose to accept the payment even though the information does not match. You should, however, note that in such a case, you will be held responsible for the payment potentially being transferred to the wrong account. Therefore, it is important to always check that you have the correct account number.
