If you are at risk of losing your work ability permanently due to an illness, vocational rehabilitation may provide you with the means to continue working or return to work. In practice, the rehabilitation takes the form of a work trial for the purpose of learning new tasks, or training or coaching towards a new profession.
Apply for vocational rehabilitation
If your sick leave continues beyond the maximum period of sickness allowance provided by Kela and it is not possible for you to yet return to work, you can apply for a cash rehabilitation benefit in the form of fixed-term disability pension.
