When will my pension be paid?

We always pay earnings-related pension payments on the first banking day of each month.

If your pension is granted retroactively:

  • We pay the first pension instalment as soon as possible after you have been issued your pension decision.
  • You will receive any retroactive payments in accordance with a separate notification.

How can I change my bank account number?

Provide the new bank account number well in advance of your old account being closed.

The easiest way to change your bank account number is through our online service, which you can log in to using your online banking codes.

If you wish, you can also complete a Change of bank details form and send it to us by mail. The form can be found in the Forms and applications page. The form is available in Finnish (pdf) and in Swedish (pdf). Remember to sign the form.

In order to ensure your data security, we cannot take any account information by phone.

How do I change tax issues related to my pension?

If changes occur in your pension income, order a new tax card. You can order a revised tax card from the website of the Tax Administration or by calling +358 (0)29 497 000.

The tax authorities will send your pension tax card directly to us in electronic format and, in future years, we will also receive the withholding rate for your pension directly from the tax authorities.

The new rate always takes effect from the start of February. Taxes will be withheld from income paid in January in accordance with the withholding rate of the previous year.

Around the turn of the year, we automatically send to you and the tax authorities information about the pension payments and withholding tax amounts from the previous year.

If you want us to withhold a higher rate of taxes from your pension than it states on your tax card, you can directly provide us with a new, higher tax rate by sending us a message through our online service.

Why is 40% tax being withheld from my pension?

If you do not supply us with a pension tax card, we have to withhold 40% in taxes from your pension. The withholding rate for payment instalments of retroactive pension is also 40%.

We will refund any excessive taxes to you as soon as we have received a new tax card for your pension or retroactive pension.

What impact does the increase of the earnings-related pension index have?

The amount of earnings-related pensions is adjusted each year by the earnings-related pension index. The earnings-related pension index ensures that the purchasing power of pensions in payment is maintained or even improved.

The earnings-related pension index for 2024 is 3037 The index rose approximately 5.7 per cent in comparison to 2023.

The earnings-related pension index is confirmed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
